222/365: Aphra Behn.
First professional female English literary writer, critically acknowledged as an important figure in the development of the novel, and also a spy. Her tombstone reads, “Here lies a Proof that Wit can never be / Defence enough against Mortality.” She often claimed to have led a life "dedicated to pleasure and poetry."
She was going to be part of the series of Important People Wearing Silly Hats, and then I remembered that she’s beyond cool enough without one.
I love Aphra Behn!
